Nadezhda (Nadine) Rossinskaya (Geisler)

A resident of Belgorod Region, helped refugees from Ukraine. She organised the volunteer movement "Army of Beauties" to collect humanitarian aid and evacuate refugees. In May 2023, she left Russia - in her own words, because of threats and the prospect of arrest: she claimed that shortly before her departure, a young woman who had sent her a donation was detained at the airport. On 1 February 2024, Rossinskaya was detained at the airport as she was returning to Russia from Georgia. A case was opened against her for calling for activities against the security of the Russian Federation because of some posts calling for donations to the Azov battalion. Rossinskaya claims that she does not know who owns the Instagram account that published the post asking for donations. During the hearing to decide on the preventive measure, the activist said that she had received threats because her data had been included in the Ukrainian database "Peacemaker". She claimed that she had been persecuted by the AFU "in order to discredit Russian volunteers who provide support and assistance to the army during the military operations". As one of the proofs of Rossinskaya's guilt, the investigation cites a certain video in which the military thanked her for her help. The activist claims it is the Russian military. On 2 February 2024, Rossinskaya was taken into custody. After that, an unknown person sent her 30 litres of water in the pre-trial detention centre, as a result of which Rossinskaya's monthly limit for transfers was exhausted and her parents were unable to give her the necessary things, including food and hygiene items. Rossinskaya also reported that in the detention centre, where she was taken after her detention on 1 February, she felt ill and had a panic attack. The extractor fan in her cell does not work and it is difficult to breathe. Rossinskaya complained that her heart ached, she felt a heaviness in the solar plexus and "a painful fever in the back of her head". In July 2024, it became known that Rossinskaya was also prosecuted for organising terrorist activities. Earlier, her stepfather Sergey Yusupov told SOTAvision that the law enforcement officer demanded to persuade Rossinskaya "to confess to all sins, that she is an American spy or something, also that she went to Germany, that she was recruited there, that she wants to come to Ukraine". Otherwise, the relatives were promised "crunching of bones - and not only Nadya's".
