On 5 October 2021, Komandirov's home was searched and he was detained, after which the court had decided to take him into custody as part of the public justification of terrorism case. On 30 November, after the extension of his detention time, Komandirov went on hunger strike, demanding a non-custodial measure of restraint. On 9 December, he stopped the hunger strike. At the end of March 2022, during the court hearing on the appeal for the change of measure of restriction, Komandirov learnt that the Investigative Committee had opened three more criminal cases against him – under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism (part 4 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code), on incitement to hatred (paragraph "a", part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) and on insulting a representative of the authorities (article 319 of the Criminal Code). On 28 July he was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony.
