11 March 2020 detained after a search in a case of participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation in connection with alleged involvement in the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is not related to terrorism. On 12 March, the court decided to send Suleymanov under house arrest. On 29 October 2021, he was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime penal colony.
