A resident of Moscow. Two cases were brought against him, both under articles on incitement to hatred and calls to extremism. One of these cases, according to Dmitry Ivanov, who was convicted to the same colony with a case of public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, was initiated in connection with Zaytsev's statements about a law enforcement officer who kicked an elderly woman in the stomach during the dispersal of a rally in support of Alexei Navalny in St. Petersburg on 23 January 2021. The sentence in one of the cases was handed down on 6 May 2022, in the other — on 13 March 2023. As a result, Zaytsev was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony.
